Our tutorial is designed to guide researchers through a complete HRI study cycle involving multimodal data and analytics. Our aim is to introduce common sensors utilised in HRI studies and to expose participants to the analysis of multimodal data, fostering a general understanding of these concepts. Participants are encouraged to bring their own data, or use the publicly available datasets curated for the tutorial. Additionally, we intend to conduct a panel discussion to address an important topic for all empirical HRI studies: Bias and Fairness in HRI data.Â
Date: 3rd March 2025
Time: 9.00 am - 5.00 pm
Venue: In-person - Melbourne Convention Center (Room TBA)
Online link for the panel discussion - TBA
This tutorial serves diverse experience levels. The initial study design components including sensors and feature extraction suit those new to multimodal HRI research, while the data fusion and analysis section targets participants with prior analytics experience. The panel discussion on ethics and bias in HRI is valuable for all experience levels. Through hands-on exercises and expert guidance, participants will enhance their ability to design and evaluate multimodal HRI studies.
