In your first year studying Biomedical Science at Monash, you'll be enrolled to study eight (8) units for the whole year:

You get to complete two (2) free electives in your first year, one in each semester.
These electives that can be taken from any Faculty at Monash University, you just need to make sure you meet any prerequisites, if there are any.
TIP: Choose first year/level one units! (those are units that start with the number 1)
