The Department of Labour, Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment, is currently undertaking a comprehensive review of the Labour and Employment Act of Bhutan, 2007, with the objective of guaranteeing that the legislation remains relevant to the progressing requirements of the labour market, aligns with international best practices, and fosters non-discriminatory and impartial employment conditions in Bhutan.
As a vital stakeholder, your insights and propositions are instrumental in this process. We would like to kindly invite your contributions and recommendations on potential amendments to the Act. Your feedback on everything related to labour and labour market will contribute considerably to moulding a more robust and comprehensive labour policy structure for Bhutan.

The consecration ceremony of the Eastern Petroleum, Oil, and Lubricants Depot in Garmani, Mongar, was held on 17th February 2025, marking a significant milestone in strengthening fuel security in the eastern region.
The event was graced by Lyonpo Namgyal Dorji, Minister for Industry, Commerce, and Employment (MoICE) and presided over by Ven. Lam Neten of Mongar Rabdey. Dzongda, Regional Heads, LG leaders and Business Community representatives attended the event.
The depot, spanning 10.33 acres, was developed with the financial support of the Government of India under the Tied Financial Support (TFS) scheme, totalling Nu. 324.684 million. It features state-of-the-art fuel and LPG storage capabilities, ensuring efficient distribution and enhanced energy security for the region. The facility includes underground storage tanks with a 1,000 KL capacity for both petrol and diesel, along with 6,143 stocked LPG cylinders.
The depot also incorporates residential and emergency infrastructure to ensure preparedness during natural disasters, strengthening the region’s resilience and ensuring a continuous fuel supply in times of crisis.
This project exemplifies Bhutan's commitment to bolstering energy security, benefiting Garmani and neighboring Dzongkhags, and reinforcing long-term fuel and LPG availability for the nation.
