Holistic Development
What does it mean?
Every aspect of a child’s development should be recognised and valued in order to maximise the potential of the child. You can help them to develop knowledge, skills and dispositions across the six learning areas – Aesthetics and Creative Expression, Discovery of the World, Language and Literacy, Motor Skills Development, Numeracy, and Social and Emotional Development.
How can you do it?
You can:
Provide your child with opportunities to develop knowledge, skills and dispositions in the 6 learning areas
Design a variety of learning experiences (e.g. small and large group activities, indoor and outdoor play, classroom activities and field trips)
Seize teachable moments to guide your child in solving problems he/she encounters, recognising and managing his/her feelings
Working hand-in-hand with the school
It takes a village to raise a child. Every interaction with a child is a potential moment to teach and impart values. Every child is different and may have different needs in order to thrive. In Shuqun Primary, we seek to bring out the best in every student and care for their overall well-being.
Therefore, we hope to seek your support in the following areas:
Encourage behaviours/habits that are consistent with school values and expectations
Support your child in his/her altruistic intentions
Keep Form Teachers informed if your child is undergoing major changes or transition at home
Alert Form Teachers if your child may need additional support (e.g. financial, emotional, special needs)
Check in with teachers if your child appears to have issues with peers
