The National Police Cadet Corps celebrates its 65th year in founding this year as it continues to be a youth organisation which actively contributes towards making Singapore the safest place in the world. Swiss NPCC joins in the celebrations in this momentous year through participating in the 65th NPCC Annual Parade where our cadets, Akshieka Kannan, Aiden Israfel, Ray Lim, Umair and Perrin Low represented Swiss in the marching contingents. Aside from NPAP, our cadets also took part in the Police Day Parade, as well as the National Day Parade this year.
Aside from regular training sessions where our cadets get equipped with campcraft skills and drill, our unit also ventured out to police institutions like Police Heritage Centre, and as well as enrichment programmes such as air pistol shooting and kayaking to provide a more wholesome experience to a cadet’s journey in Swiss NPCC. We continued to partner Bukit Batok Neighbourhood Police Centre in activities such as anti-scam challenge and visits. This year also marks the inaugural run of the Inter-unit Drill Competition after the pandemic, and we are proud to come in second place in our area. Our outgoing unit chairman, Darren Yap from 4S1 gained honours receiving the SPF-NPCC badge as well as the Station Inspector rank – the highest attainable recognition by cadets. Incoming unit chairman, Perrin Low from 3S4 added laurels to our unit’s achievement by representing us in a few prominent and prestigious events such as the National Camp, the NDP Observance Ceremony, and the upcoming overseas exchange programme to Hong Kong.
Our year-end highlights include the residential 3D2N Area 18 Adventure Training Camp in Pulau Ubin, a milestone for our Secondary Two cadets as they interacted and forged memories with fellow cadets from schools in the area. We also ventured an amazing race in Sentosa with cadets on the Goosechase app. The experience was fruitful both for cadet leaders who did the recce and design of the trail as well as cadets who matched their wits with their stamina in scenic Siloso Beach.
Our efforts bore fruits as our unit was awarded the Unit Overall Proficiency Award (Distinction). The success of our unit is a result of relentless dedication by our volunteers, Honorary Officer Jeremy Ong and Cadet Inspector Jonathan Loh, together with teacher officers and cadet leaders who harnessed the strengths and camaraderie of the unit. NPCC Swiss continues to strive towards our commitment to NPCC’s core values of Resilience, Integrity, Service and Excellence!
NPCC received Gold for Unit Overall Proficiency Award (UOPA) in 2021 and Distinction for 2023.
