2019 was a tremendously memorable year of rich and eye-opening experiences for Swiss Drama members. It was a year of many ‘firsts’ – the members’ first foray into ensemble work in their SYF Arts Presentation play, their first student-initiated VIA project which included a skit and interviewing of their fellow schoolmates, a National Day public performance which required ensemble work as well as dancing, and a life-changing camp that brought about deep reflection and forged stronger bonds among them.
Intense preparation for the SYF Arts Presentation play, ‘Don’t forget to remember’, presented a steep learning curve for the members involved; they not only learnt what ensemble work entailed, they also gained greater insights into characterisation, pros and set creation, as well as script adaptation. In term 3, Swiss Drama put up two skits, one for Racial Harmony Day, and the other for the VIA project they initiated. These well-received skits, which scripts were written entirely by the members, bore testimony to the hard work put in, and the passion and pride that Swiss Drama members have for their craft.
