The Singapore Youth STEM Fair builds on a proud legacy that began in 1978 with the Singapore Shell Youth Science Festival, later evolving into the Singapore Youth Science Fair, and now the Singapore Youth STEM Fair. Over the decades, the fair has inspired more than 120,000 students across Singapore to pursue scientific inquiry, innovation, and discovery. As Singapore continues to strengthen STEM education, SYSF provides a valuable platform for students to apply their learning in authentic contexts and cultivate the dispositions needed for the future.
More than a competition, SYSF provides an authentic platform for students to investigate real-world problems, develop innovative solutions and communicate their ideas with confidence. Through inquiry, design thinking and collaboration, students deepen their understanding of STEM while strengthening essential 21st Century Competencies, including critical and inventive thinking, communication, collaboration, self-directed learning, and problem-solving.
The Fair is open to all current (2026) Primary 4 and 5, as well as Secondary 1 and 2 students.
Registration is via FormSG (https://go.gov.sg/2027sysfentry) by Friday, 9 October 2026, with full project submissions due by Friday, 22 January 2027.
The fair will culminate in the physical poster exhibition and Award Presentation Ceremony on Tuesday, 2 March 2027 at Science Centre Singapore.
Additional information about the SYSF can be found in the "Invitation to Schools" e-mail which had been sent to Principals on 6 August 2026.
The SYSF is organised by a different team, from the Science Teachers Association of Singapore (STAS).
