Metal lase cutting machine (Filament2Print, 2019)
Laser Cutting is a industrial process commonly used to cut out materials with much precision using a high-powered laser, following a G-code of a pattern to be cut out. Generally, the laser will burn or melt through the material, leaving behind a smooth, high-quality finished edge. Laser cutting has multiple applications in the real world, but in Design & Build challenge, participants will explore it using Falcata wooden boards and cardboard.
To create the file for laser cutting, users can turn to Inkscape, a free downloadable software that is used for designing of the vector files. The files can later be then converted to the G-code for the machine to process the design.
This video teaches how to use Inkscape and its functions to design SVG vector files from images or from scratch.
