This Heart of A Teacher workshop uses the evidenced based Solution-Focused approach to help teachers renew their sense of purpose and passion in their vocation, and to acquire skills to develop a Growth Mindset and to empower themselves to be a teacher of influence.

This is an AR Project on how we can use DI to improve students' content in composition writing. The DI approach will be used in the teaching of the writing process. This project was conducted with all P4 Malay students. Based on our Pre-DI test results, supported by at least 2 practices before this, we have divided the students into 3 groups. Three different DI approaches have been carried out in teaching the students how to improve in their content for composition writing.
The teachers can pick up a tip or two on how to use DI to improve students' learning at different levels of readiness.

We will be sharing a lesson package on using the Show-not-Tell technique to describe a character's emotions in a story. A blended learning approach is used for the lessons. The writing technique will be introduced during a face-to-face lesson and students will complete an online task on SLS at home. We have conducted the lessons with the middle primary students and they have benefited from them. Students attempted to use this writing technique in their compositions.

To infuse the joy of learning, gamification is used in Student Learning Space (SLS) during Home-Based Learning (HBL). Gamification is the idea of adding game elements to a non-game situation, i.e. learning. The students were engaged in their learning and empowered to construct their own learning with gamification. Teachers can learn how to leverage on technology to connect students to their interests.

1) We have worked on a set of slides for P2CL based on the MTL Support Programme (ABLE). These set of slides were first used during HBL through screen recording, and were subsequently used in class. The slides follow a strict structure to ensure that students are able to learn independently during HBL. The structure is also repeated to ensure that students are familiar with the process and do not have to adapt to a new lesson flow.
2) The target audience for these set of slides is the P2 CL students. The students are of different learning abilities.
3) As these slides were adapted from the MTL Support programme, it is very useful in supporting students who are struggling with the subject. To teach and develop oracy, we use pictures to activate the students' prior knowledge and elicit verbal responses from them. For word recognition, students were asked to recognise words through sounds or flashcards. They will then revise the structure of the words, before recognisng them through flashcards again. This process can be repeated until students are familiar with the words.
4) Colleagues may learn more about the structure to guiding students who are struggling to learn a language. This method of teaching is also suitable for students who are learning any language as their second language.

Digital escape rooms, also referred to as digital breakouts, are a great way to bring gameplay and problem solving to any lesson or unit! Such escape rooms are fairly easy to create - no need for actual locks or maps! All you require is a little creativity!
This English lesson package was developed with the objective to reinforce the students' understanding of words with prefix 'un-'. It was assigned to the P4 and P5 students as part of their EL online task during the FHBL period.
During the sharing, there will be a hands-on session where you will be guided through the creation of a (basic) digital escape room. It's never too late to jump on the bandwagon! ;)

Creating a virtual shopping experience with e-manipulatives as a teaching tool and flip classroom resource for P2 students.
Resources can be used to engage students for self-directed learning and practices.
Teachers can be aware of the use of e-manuplatives in the teaching and learning of math using the CPA approach. This design model provides a virtual learning experience for students to enjoy an authentic shopping experience.

How do we know whether students have improved or learnt within the lesson itself, and do we know exactly who? Will we be able to track this information without killing ourselves in the process?
Accurate assessment of learning can be done by assessing students at the start of the lesson, and at a later point in the lesson. This assessment is critical for the students learning as it will allow us to provide targetted feedback for more effective learning.
Through the use of Plickers, we can quickly assess the students' readiness level and cater the lesson at the more appropriate level for the students. While we have used it for PE lesson, gymnastics learning area, this form of assessment can be applied across subjects and lead to even more effective and efficient teaching.

At the end of the year or when we have the exam results of our students, we usually analyse their scores. We usually look at the data or table presented in Microsoft Excel. This sharing is about basic Microsoft Excel usage. It includes:
- Formatting Excel Sheet
- Copying content and formula
- Filtering, Sorting and conditional formatting
- Using basic functions such as : Sum, Min, Max, Average, If, Count, Countif, etc.

This presentation is about how students can be tuned in to manage their mind and body at the start, end or anytime during class when they cannot give their teachers their undivided attention and focus. The students instantly become one with themselves and 'feel good'.
This was done in the past two years during and at the end of my PE lessons to prepare the students to calm down and be ready. What teachers will learn from my sharing is how you can get your students to do this anytime you feel the need to do so, without compromising on curriculum time.

I am sharing a recipe for Pineapple Buns, a classic bun that you can find in Hong Kong style bakeries. Interestingly, while it’s called Pineapple Bun, there’s no pineapple in the ingredients used. The name is derived from how the bun looks so much like its namesake! There are many parallels we can draw from bread baking and teaching and learning. Come bake with me and let’s reflect on these parallels together.
Ingredients needed: a pinch of joy, a dash of tenderness, a spoonful of affection & a heap of love 💖

This sharing aims to provide teachers with the awareness of the different kinds of emotions in each student. Basic principles on problem solving will be shared during this session.
