Welcome to the intellectual heart of RSS — our school library! Whether you're looking for your next great read, a quiet place to study, or simply a space to browse and explore, our library is open to all students and ready to welcome you.
Our library is home to a rich and diverse collection spanning fiction, non-fiction, magazines, and more — with something for every kind of reader. From gripping novels and inspiring biographies to fascinating books on science, history, sports, and beyond, there's always something new to discover on our shelves.
One of the highlights of our library is our ever-changing thematic displays, thoughtfully curated throughout the year to reflect different seasons, festivities, and occasions — from Chinese New Year and Hari Raya to National Day, Halloween, and more. These displays are a wonderful way to discover books you might never have picked up otherwise, so do keep a lookout each time you visit!
Our school librarian, Ms Su, is always on hand to help you find the perfect book, point you to new arrivals, or simply have a chat about what you've been reading. Don't hesitate to say hello!
So come on up to Block C, Level 3 — your next favourite book is waiting. 🌟
Our library comes alive throughout the year with creative thematic displays that celebrate the seasons and special occasions close to our hearts.
During Halloween, our "Spooky Reads" display — complete with a carved pumpkin, ghostly decorations, and an atmospheric black tablecloth — featured titles such as The Twisted Tree, Classic Tales of Horror, and works by Stephen King, alongside a fun "Guess the Spooky Book by Emoji" activity that had students guessing their favourite spooky titles from emoji clues.
Our Teachers' Day display, dressed in vibrant pink and purple, celebrated the educators who shape our lives with titles ranging from Roald Dahl's beloved Matilda to Touching Hearts, Stirring Minds and Chicken Soup for the Soul.
Our National Day display was a proud showcase of Singapore's story, featuring books on National Service, Singapore's history, and heritage, alongside interactive NDP trivia cards and activity sheets inviting students to reflect on traditional trades and design their own Singapore postcards. Each display is thoughtfully curated to connect reading with the world around us — making every visit to the library a little different, and a little more delightful. Keep a lookout for what's coming up next!
Our school library is not just a place to borrow books — it's a space where exciting things happen. We regularly run a variety of activities designed to make reading fun, spark your curiosity, and help you discover stories you never knew you would love. From reading challenges and book displays to themed events and special programmes, there's always something going on to get you excited about your next read.
Ever feel like you always end up picking the same kind of book? It's time to shake things up.
Every year, our library runs one of its most popular and exciting activities — Blind Date with a Book. Here is how it works: books are wrapped up so you cannot see the cover or the title. All you get is a single mysterious clue — just one intriguing line to hint at what is inside. That is it. The rest is a surprise.
Will it be a heart-pounding thriller? A laugh-out-loud comedy? An epic adventure set in a world you have never imagined? You will not know until you unwrap it — and that's exactly the point.
Students who have taken part say it is one of the best ways they have discovered a new favourite author or stumbled upon a story they would never normally have chosen. You might just walk away with a book you end up recommending to all your friends.
So dare to take the risk. During our next "Blind Date with a Book" season, head down to the library, pick a wrapped book, and fall in love with a story you never saw coming. But don't wait too long — once they're gone, they're gone!
