United Nations 17 SDGs

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.

The following short video provides a quick recap on all the 17 sustainable development goals. Which of these goals do you identify with, or feel the most for?

You could self-initiate an SIL activity based on the identified goal(s).

In alignment with the UN 17SDGs, Singapore has its very own 2030 Singapore Green Plan.

Trash to treasure!

For example, if you are passionate about SDG #12
(i.e. responsible consumption and production)
, you could potentially advocate for a zero waste plan and initiate a recycling drive in PRSS. You could also consider working with the student leaders and get everyone in action for a just cause!

Urban farming!

For example, if you are passionate about SDG #2
(i.e.
zero hunger), you could explore urban farming in our very own Smart Greenhouse in PRSS. You could potentially grow vegetables or fruits in our greenhouse and initiate a food sustainability drive in PRSS under the 'Sow-Grow-Know' programme. This programme also extends to your parents and we welcome any potential parent-child gardening group. You could also consider working with the student leaders and get everyone in action for a just cause!
