I had the experience of a lifetime by being a part of the Secondary 1 Level Camp in 2023, with the theme being POKEMON! On the first day, we met the Group Instructors (GIs), who were made up of the school’s alumni members. The crowd was thrilled upon meeting the GIs, and the air was filled with excitement as soon as we found out about the activities that were about to take place that day. Playing dodgeball and Capture the Flag made our classes work together to ensure victory! Even with some losses, we still continued to cheer each other on and encouraged one another. That day was memorable as I felt the incredible bond from my class.
On the second day, there were even more activities! We played a number of class bonding games with the GIs, which was super fun. It felt nice to get to know our GIs better and forge closer bonds with them as our seniors. Again, the day was filled with laughter and joy. Being able to dance with the whole cohort during the annual camp mass dance at the end of the day felt like a surreal experience.
On the last day, my class got the opportunity to visit Our Tampines Hub (OTH) for the Aesthetics Workshop. I was definitely happy and cheerful that day as my class had the privilege to go out of school and learn about the different Brazilian instruments. I was never really interested in playing instruments until this outing happened. It showed me how fun it was playing various instruments as a group. A valuable lesson I learned was that music and everything else, in general, was better when it was done together as a team. That was indeed an interesting and exciting experience for me.
This level camp has been a memorable experience and definitely will not be forgotten. I am glad I got to enjoy this moment with my classmates, schoolmates, and the alumni. The Secondary One Level Camp has tightened my bond with my friends, and it taught me how important it was to communicate effectively and model the way through our actions as leaders in one way or another. I enjoyed the camp while it lasted and definitely look forward to making many more memories like this one!
