A series of Cyber Wellness lessons were conducted for all levels to guide our students as they navigate the cyberspace. Our Cyber Wellness curriculum aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to harness the power of ICT for positive purposes, maintain a positive presence in cyberspace and be safe and responsible users of ICT. In line with the CCE 2021 syllabus, the Sec 1s and 2s went through a series of Cyber Wellness lessons through discussions on contemporary issues.
The school engaged TOUCH Community to conduct a Cyber Wellness assembly talk for all Sec 3 classes on 19 April 2021. The topic of the talk was ‘Dangers of Internet and gaming addiction’ so that we can draw the attention of our students to the risks of the Internet and gaming addiction.
During the talk, the speaker engaged the students on the appeal of games and provided tips on how to manage their screen time. Through the sharing of real life stories and articles, the students understood the negative consequences of not managing online usage and gaming habits well, and reflected on their online habits. They also made practical plans to strike a balance between the real and virtual world.
Our Cyber Wellness Advocacy and Leadership Programme involves all Sec 1 to 3 Class Cyber Wellness Ambassadors and Assistant Ambassadors and aims to cultivate active and self-directed learners, future-ready netizens, and responsible global citizens who power their own learning with technologies.
The approaches are:
The Cyber Wellness education and advocacy curriculum inculcates positive behaviour in ICT usage through self-management and self-directedness in the use of PLDs for their own knowledge archival and retention.
Training for the Ambassadors will mainly be carried out via the following platforms:
Class Leaders Workshops
Class Leaders Workshop #1 - 2 March 2021
Class Leaders Workshop #2 - 6 July 2021
Class Leaders Workshop #3 - 17 August 2021
A two-day leadership training camp during March holidays
Followed-up with two further training sessions in Term 2 and Term 3
To impart the values required to drive positive behaviours in ICT usage through self-management skills to inculcate a self-directedness in the use of their Personal Learning Devices (PLDs), the advocacy and leadership training this year emphasizes on the following three approaches of ‘shaping attitude’, ‘creating subjective norms’ and ‘realising perceived control’. The expected learning outcomes are:
Assessment of personal impact on loss of productivity caused by digital interruptions
Understand the effects of media-multitasking on learning and academic productivity
Identify personal adjustments to lifestyle and work to develop single-tasking habits
Brief coverage on the techniques of note-taking in a classroom setting
All Sec 1 to 3 Class Cyber Wellness Ambassadors and Assistant Ambassadors will conduct a students-led workshop for their peers in their form classes in Sept (date TBC).
