To be the Youth Organisation of Choice.
The Boys' Brigade (BB) was founded in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1883 as a uniformed youth organisation. Today, the movement has spread across the globe with over half a million members worldwide. The BB in Singapore was founded on 12 January 1930. We employ a holistic approach in the development of youths. Through our programme, we hope for our youths to be world-ready, with the passion to act on their dreams and to serve and care for the community.

NBPS Boys’ Brigade holds an annual camp for the students to hone team-building skills and develop resilience.
An individual learns best through experience, not lessons. Our programmes are designed to give the participants experiences that are relative to real life. With the use of the outdoor environment as the main learning avenue, the programs will be the vehicle for participants to get to know the strengths, limitations and potentials of themselves, their peers as well as their mentors.
Experiential Learning Methodology develops the individuals’ life skills such as communication, problem solving, decision-making, interpersonal relationships, teamwork, as well as increases their confidence, self-awareness, self-reliance, discipline and leadership skills.
Boys’ Brigade (BB) Founders Day is celebrated annually on the 12th of January to commemorate the founding of The Boys’ Brigade in Singapore. In 1930, our founder James Milner Fraser, on accepting an assignment in colonial Singapore, took the opportunity to fulfill his dream of pioneering the BB movement outside Great Britain and established the 1st Singapore Company. To commemorate this special day, boys from the Boys’ Brigade don their BB uniforms in school.
Naval Base Primary School begins every National Day celebration with a solemn National Day Observance Ceremony. Our P5 Boys’ Brigade members have the honour of serving alongside the Red Cross Youth and the Girls’ Brigade as part of the uniformed groups for the ceremony. As the designated flag bearers, the Boys’ Brigade members train diligently throughout the year to uphold their responsibilities. Through their commitment, adaptability and teamwork, they exemplify the values and character expected of a Boys’ Brigade member while demonstrating core MOE 21st Century Competencies such as self-management, civic literacy and responsible decision-making. Marching in smartly and donning their uniform with pride, they reflect our school’s vision of developing Confident Learners and Compassionate Leaders who serve with integrity and carry themselves with respect.
The Boys’ Brigade Adventure Quest is an exciting outdoor challenge that encourages our members to put their skills, strength and teamwork to the test. Through navigating stations, solving problems and overcoming obstacles, our Boys learn to take Responsibility for their roles in the team while showing Determination to complete each task. The fast-paced and unpredictable nature of the Quest sparks Curiosity and Innovation, as they think creatively to find solutions under pressure. Throughout the experience, they demonstrate Teamwork by supporting and motivating one another, and show Empathy by recognising and caring for the needs of their peers. The Adventure Quest not only builds confidence, but also nurtures the C.R.E.D.I.T. values that guide our Boys’ growth as capable and compassionate leaders.

During our school’s Environment Education Week, the Boys’ Brigade played an active role in engaging Navalites through interactive games, hands-on craft activities and meaningful conversations about the 3Rs — Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Using recycled paper, the Boys taught their schoolmates how to fold simple origami creations such as paper frogs, sparking interest in sustainable practices through creativity and play. As they explained instructions, guided peers and encouraged participation, the Boys strengthened their communication skills, building confidence in speaking clearly, listening attentively and interacting respectfully with others. Their efforts not only promoted environmental awareness but also showcased the positive leadership and initiative of our Boys’ Brigade members.
