In Bukit View Primary School, we hope to nurture Bukit Viewans to be confident communicators who are grounded in their cultural roots and able to connect with others across communities locally and globally through their Mother Tongue.
Our learning experiences are designed to spark joy and curiosity, build confidence and encourage the purposeful use of their Mother Tongue in their daily lives. We empower students to embrace it as a living language that shapes their identity, while deepening learning through strong teacher collaboration and meaningful partnerships with parents and the wider community.

Understanding our roots and appreciating others' culture
In line with the Learning Languages for Life, we strengthen support for students to learn their Mother Tongue Languages to as high a level as possible and for as long as possible, while providing opportunities for exposure to other official Mother Tongue Languages at the conversational level. Students are encouraged to experience their Mother Tongue as a living language through cultural learning and cross-cultural appreciation in meaningful and enriching contexts.

Students actively learn their Mother Tongue and experience its associated culture as a living language through authentic and engaging activities such as workshops, performances, competitions, and exhibitions. Fortnight activities are further enriched through partnerships with parents, alumni, community organisations, and collaboration with other schools.
Cross-cultural Learning and Appreciation Activities
Cross-cultural Learning and Appreciation Activities
Students learn about and appreciate the diverse cultures of Singapore through experiences such as quiet gallery showcases, Share-a-Moment segments during festive periods like Pongal, Mid-Autumn Festival, and Hari Raya Haji, as well as school-wide celebrations including Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Puasa, and Deepavali, fostering greater cultural awareness, respect, and appreciation.
P3 and P4 Conversational Chinese, Malay and Tamil (CCMT) Programme
P3 and P4 Conversational Chinese, Malay and Tamil (CCMT) Programme
The CCMT programme provides opportunities for students to learn a peer’s Mother Tongue and develop cross-cultural understanding of Singapore’s multicultural heritage. This 2-year programme comprises 20 sessions in total, with 5 face-to-face lessons and 5 asynchronous modules each year, supporting flexible and engaging learning. By the end of the programme, students will be able to hold simple conversations with native speakers of Chinese or Malay. From 2026, Conversational Tamil is introduced alongside Chinese and Malay to enhance students’ intercultural learning experiences.
