Earlier at the Module 2 Online Session, we were introduced to the Co-Asessment Summary (CAS) Tool. It serves as a graphic organiser designed to support the conversation after discussing the pieces of evidence (SCALs, observation notes, lesson plans, lesson design maps). This tool captures the gist of the conversation, summarising the strengths and areas for growth in selected Teaching Area(s).
The key steps when using the Co-Assessment Summary (CAS) Tool:
1. Identify the Teaching Process.
2. Discuss and record Evidence of teaching practice related to the Teaching Process.
3. Summarise Strengths and Areas for Growth.
4. Set a Professional Goal or Goals for a particular Teaching Area that will guide your work together and brainstorm possible evidence of success. The goal can be framed as a statement or question. Use SMART goals to support this step.
5. Identify Next Steps and Support Desired in terms of mentoring and professional development.
