Day 1
Preparing for a flipped classroom involves a significant amount of learning and preparation from the teacher's side. It requires careful planning to ensure that students benefit from engaging, technology-driven learning experiences. Today, I gained valuable insights into this process and explored several useful tools. I learned how to create and use Google Docs and Google Sites, which are powerful platforms for organizing and presenting educational content. I also discovered how to share my portfolio by generating a link, allowing others to easily access and view my work online.
In addition, I learned that there are specific ways to measure how technology is being utilized in teaching and learning called SAMR. This understanding helps in evaluating and improving the effectiveness of tech-based instruction. Realizing that technology integration can be assessed meaningfully was eye-opening. Overall, it was a productive and enriching day. I walked away with practical skills and a better understanding of tech-enhanced teaching strategies.
Day 2
Today, we learned how to create suitable and effective questions based on educational videos from YouTube. We also practiced building items that align with the appropriate learning standards, which is essential in ensuring that the questions are relevant and meaningful for student learning. In addition, we were introduced to Edpuzzle, a useful platform for creating interactive video lessons. Through Edpuzzle, I learned how to edit videos and insert questions directly into them, making the content more engaging and personalized for students.
We were also exposed to screencasting, which allows us to record our screen along with audio, making it easier to explain concepts visually and verbally. I discovered a new way to produce educational videos, which will be useful in creating pre-lesson materials. Using videos before class can help students prepare better and understand the lesson more effectively. Tools like Edpuzzle, Google Docs, and Canva are incredibly helpful in lesson preparation.
Day 3
On the last day, I focused on creating a detailed plan called the Action Plan: A Kick Start for implementing flipped learning in my school. The planning process consisted of five important steps that are essential for a successful flipped classroom. First, I began by unpacking the curriculum to clearly understand the learning objectives and identify what students need to achieve. This helped me ensure that my lessons are aligned with the required standards. Next, I moved on to preparing the necessary materials, including videos, documents, and interactive tools to support student learning outside the classroom.
Following that, I planned how to conduct the lessons effectively by combining in-class activities with pre-assigned digital content. Finally, I included a step for reflecting on the learning process, which is crucial for continuous improvement. To summarize my plan, I created an interactive poster that visually represents my action plan. I completed all the required tasks and uploaded everything to my learning portfolio for future reference and sharing.
