Hello JES Families,
We’re off to a fantastic start to fall! Our teachers are working collaboratively in grade-level teams to deepen our collective understanding of Professional Learning Community (PLC) practices and our district and school-wide approach to a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS). These Collaborative Teams are thoughtfully analyzing both academic and social-emotional data to make informed, student-centered decisions that guide next instructional steps and ensure support for all learners.
We recently celebrated the power of a Growth Mindset during our “Power of YET” assembly, encouraging students to embrace challenges, learn from mistakes, and keep striving forward. The message: they may not be able to do something yet, but with effort and support, growth is always possible! Students learned the chorus from The Power of YET song, and some brave teachers joined me to perform the rap as a surprise for students! We also read The Magical Yet by Angela DiTerlizzi, and in a beautiful JES tradition, our fourth graders welcomed kindergartners with carnations, helping our youngest cheetahs feel seen, supported, and valued as new members of our school community.
We’ve just launched our first all-school challenge, and students are earning Cheetah Spots for following the classroom agreements they collectively created, agreements that reflect the shared values and expectations they want to uphold in their learning spaces throughout the year.
We are looking forward to welcoming families to JES for our annual Open House next week and during conferences throughout the month of October. Thank you for your continued partnership and support!
Warmly,
Katie Barea
JES Principal

School Happenings
Fall is a beautiful time to explore Vermont and all the rich learning opportunities it offers our educators and students. Our 4th graders recently visited the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum, and the smiles on their faces said it all, hands-on learning, curiosity, and joy were in full sail!
JES School Nutrition
Hello from Holly, John, and Julie in the JES Kitchen!
We would like to show you some of the amazing home-made food that comes from our school kitchen.
This week we are talking about the amazing home-made pizza that Holly creates once a month for all the JES Students. This is a homemade whole wheat based crust, sauce seasoned with Holly’s blend of italian seasoning and three different cheeses. On pizza day we serve well over 200 slices! It is a JES favorite!

NEWS FROM JES PIE
Partners in Education is an organization whose purpose is to enhance and strengthen the educational and social environment for the Jericho Elementary School students.
There are so many ways to get involved this fall! See the links for opportunities to volunteer at our Campus Clean Up on October 11th and our Annual Harvest Party on October 18th! We are still seeing donations for our "no fundraiser" fundraiser. Please donate if you can!
This year, PIE is spearheading a Student Directory where caregivers can share their contact information with the school community. This will be a great way to contact other parents in your child's class or other classes in the school. See the link below to fill out the form if you'd like to be included.
