Hello JES Families,
What an incredible start to the school year!
The first three days of school were filled with excitement and joy as we welcomed students back into the building. Classrooms are already buzzing with curiosity and learning, and it's been a true pleasure to see students settling into new routines with such ease. Whether in classrooms, on the playground, or in the lunchroom, the positive energy across our school is truly contagious.
Thank you for your support in making these first days so successful. Your efforts, from morning routines to cheerful goodbyes, have made a big difference in helping our students transition smoothly back to school.
Did you know that September is National Attendance Awareness Month? Consistent attendance and arriving on time help students build strong relationships with their teachers and classmates, creating a sense of connection and belonging that supports their social and emotional growth. Let’s continue to work together to help our students build strong attendance habits from the very beginning.
We are looking forward to a wonderful year of learning, growth, and community.
Warmly,
Katie Barea
JES Principal

JES Community Connections
Each month, Mr. Bouchard, Mrs. Tillman, and our fabulous Unified Arts teachers will be working together to provide all JES students with an exciting school-wide enrichment experience. Check out what they have planned for our September Community Connections project. It's a great way for students to learn, collaborate, and grow together.
Are our Cheetahs lucky, or what? We can’t wait to see all the creativity and connection this year brings!
JES Library News
For both our new and returning Cheetahs, Mrs. Tillman has put together some helpful information about our JES library for the upcoming school year. Check it out, and feel free to reach out to her with any library-specific questions.
Kids Sneaker Donations Needed!
Our PE team is looking to grow our Sneaker Library! We’re currently in search of sneakers in reasonably good condition, sizes Youth 13 – 7. These donations help ensure all students can safely participate in PE activities.
Thank you for supporting our active Cheetahs!
School Photos
We’re excited to announce that Diane Ellison will once again be photographing our students for the 2025–2026 school year! We are so fortunate to have a talented local photographer who captures stunning outdoor portraits of our students.
Diane will be at JES on September 11th and 12th. We will share your child’s photo day later this week. If the weather doesn't cooperate on either day, September 15th will be our scheduled rain date.
To order your child’s photos, simply scan the QR code provided or use the paper order form that came home in your child’s Friday Folder.
JES School Nutrition
Hello from Holly, John, and Julie in the JES Kitchen!
This year, our nutrition team would like to showcase some of the amazing home-made food that comes from our school kitchen.
If you smell warm Vermont maple syrup in the hallways at JES, it must be John’s home-made toasted oat granola! It is a golden color, with just enough crunch, and a little vanilla sweetness.
Made every month, and served at breakfast, the students enjoy it stirred into yogurt or eaten on its own. The recipe has served JES students for years, and will continue to be used into the future!
JES Car Pick Up Information
For those picking up students at the end of the day, all JES students received a green Car Tag to display on your dashboard or rear-view mirror. This helps our dismissal team quickly and accurately identify which student you're picking up.
We kindly ask that you remain in your vehicle so the car line can move safely and efficiently. You’d be surprised how quickly the line can back up to Route 15! Thank you for partnering with us to make our dismissal process as smooth and efficient as possible.
