Time to Reserve Your Yearbook!
School day begins at 8:00 a.m. Students should arrive before 7:55 a.m. to be in their seats before morning announcements. Anyone arriving after the 8:00 bell must check in at the front office to receive a late pass. School day ends at 2:45 p.m.
Daily attendance in school is vital to a student's educational development. Students are required, by Vermont State Statute, to attend school every day it is in session, except for reasons of health or family business. Parents/guardians should call the CHMS attendance line at (802) 434-5896 or email chmscontact@mmuusd.org before 8:15 a.m. if their student(s) will be absent or arriving late - after the 8:00 a.m. start time. If the school has yet to be contacted by 8:15 a.m., the school will call the parent/guardian at home or work to check on the student's whereabouts.
Please ensure your student knows their end of day plan. If a change in plan has been made, please notify the front office (802-434-2188) so your student can receive a note or bus pass.
We recognize that at times families will need to communicate information to their students. We have a cell phone and device policy at CHMS which requires students to have their cell phones silenced and
in their backpacks. Cell phones are not allowed to be used during the school day. This policy includes smartwatches. Students should only be using their watches to tell time, not to communicate with families.
If you have an important message for your students, please call the front office (802-434-2188) and we will make sure your students receives the message. The front office staff will notify students when they have a message during the school day.
Occur in the front parking lot, please be sure you are not blocking our accessible parking spaces. Families should pull up no further than the visitor parking spaces when waiting to pick up their students or drop them off. Call the front office (802-434-2188) and we will locate your student and send them out.
In addition, please do not park in the accessible spaces unless you have a parking pass and need to use a space to access the building.
If a student needs to leave the school during the day for any reason, the student must bring a note to school in the morning, or a parent/guardian must contact the school through the attendance line (802) 434-5896. When a parent/guardian arrives at the school for an early dismissal, they can call the front office (802) 434-2188 to announce their arrival, and the student will be dismissed.
If a student is ill and needs to go home during the school day, a parent/guardian or designated adult must pick up the sick student at school and sign them out - no student will be allowed to walk home alone if they are too ill to remain in school. Please note: Students who are feeling ill must report to the nurse’s office. The school nurse will contact a parent/guardian. Students are not permitted to call families to be picked up early.
