CAMELS HUMP MIDDLE SCHOOL MOUNTAINEERS
We all make mistakes, have struggles, and even regret things in our past. But you are not your mistakes, you are not your struggles, and you are here NOW with the power to share your day and your future. - Steve Maraboli
Another week at CHMS has wrapped up. The start of June was a busy one and we were all happy to have warm, sunny days throughout the week. We were excited to celebrate another successful 7th and 8th grade band and chorus concert. This is the yearly concert that allows our students to demonstrate their incredible progress and skills over the past three to four years. Their hard work and dedication were showcased through fantastic performances from chorus, band, select chorus and jazz band. We are so grateful for our choral director, Sierra Spence, and band director, Anna Roy, for their patience, creativity and musical direction.
We are also grateful for the wonderful support shown from the school community during our recent fundraising event. Our CHMS Partners in Education (PIE) group hosted a family bbq with lawn games and live band. The weather, setting and fun that was had was so great and we now have a foundation to help support CHMS with projects that benefit the entire school community.
This past Thursday, our school had fun cheering on emergency responders from our towns in the Special Olympics Torch Run as they passed through our school campus. We used our advisory time to come together as a school campus with RES to celebrate this great event.
This week we also marked the final week of our spring clubs and sports season. The engagement and participation was once again tremendous. Thank you to all of our students, coaches, advisors, community members and families who helped make these opportunities meaningful and memorable.
While we are close to the end of the school year, learning remains strong both inside and outside the classroom. Students have participated in a variety of fantastic field trips and continue to engage in hands-on learning experiences across disciplines. From completing creative projects in Design Tech, Art and Health to conducting science labs, learning golf and archery in PE class and much more, students are actively exploring and honing their skills, applying their knowledge, and finishing the school year with enthusiasm and purpose. Go Mountaineers!
We wish everyone a wonderful weekend.

We are now partnering with many local producers to bring fresh Vermont food to our lunch trays including: Maple Meadow Eggs, VT Beef from Ferrisburgh, Misty Knoll Farms Chicken, Cabot Creamery Cheese and Yogurt, produce from Burnt Rock Farm, The Farm Upstream and Jericho Settlers Farm, Cold Hollow Cider, Chapin Orchard apples, and more...
CHMS recently received a generous grant from Tampa Bay Buccaneers player Evan Deckers, who has ties to Huntington, Vermont, through the NFL’s My Cause, My Cleats program. Thanks to this grant, we added a bulk milk dispenser at the start of the school year.
We’re excited to now partner with Monument Farms Dairy in Weybridge, VT, to offer 100% Vermont milk to our students. With schools now allowed to serve whole milk at lunch, we will begin a pilot of Monument Farms whole milk in our dispenser starting February 10. Hood 1% and skim milk will continue to be available in cartons at both lunch and breakfast.
We continue to respond to the feedback from our students and families and are grateful for the support of our community.
