CAMELS HUMP MIDDLE SCHOOL MOUNTAINEERS
Teaching is more than imparting knowledge; it is inspiring change. Learning is more than absorbing facts; it is acquiring understanding. - William Arthur Ward
Camels Hump was buzzing with energy and excitement last week after our spring break. Over fifty of our students returned to school with only four more days to put the final touches on the drama production “When Bad Things Happen to Good Actors”. Their countless hours of rehearsals, learning to work as a team, dedication and patience truly paid off. They brought the stage to life with fantastic acting, comedy, singing, dancing and great ad libbing with surprise cameos. From performers on stage to students supporting behind the scenes as well as sound and lighting, the production really showcased our talented students. They demonstrated confidence, maturity, perseverance and cohesion. We are so incredibly proud of each and every one of them. We are so unbelievably grateful for all the families who helped behind the scenes as well and a huge THANK YOU to director Nora Pemberton and co-director Kathy Ritzer. Their directions, creativity, flexibility and patience was like no other. They are a valuable asset to our school community. Bravo!
This week we celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week. We are so grateful for our incredible teachers and staff for the dedication, care, and energy they bring to our students each day. Their commitment creates a supportive, positive and engaging learning environment where all students can thrive. It is truly incredible to watch our students achieve their goals and grow into responsible, caring, inclusive and engaged community members with the guidance and experience of our teachers and staff! THANK YOU!
We also want to recognize our outstanding Student Leadership team for their exceptional job they did facilitating Monday’s faculty meeting. Their preparation, confidence, and leadership were truly impressive and reflected the strong student voice we are working to create within our school community.
Our students also did a fantastic job participating in the required bus evacuation drills this week. They demonstrated responsibility, attentiveness, and cooperation throughout the process, helping ensure a safe and successful experience for all.
Finally, we were thrilled to welcome our incoming 5th grade families during our recent Information Night. It was wonderful to connect with new families, share information about our school community, and begin building excitement for the year ahead. Thank you to everyone who helped make the evening such a success!
We wish everyone a great weekend and a Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms and caregivers who provide love, support, encouragement and care to the students in our community.

Memorial Day
A massive congratulations to the cast and crew of the CHMS Drama Club for their spectacular run of When Bad Things Happen to Good Actors this past weekend!
Since October, these dedicated students have been working tirelessly to perfect a performance where everything that could go wrong, did—in the most hilarious way possible. From the first curtain call on Friday to the final bow on Saturday night, the stage was a whirlwind of high-energy chaos, unexpected musical numbers, and "marvelous missteps."
Highlights of the weekend included: Mayhem: Audiences were treated to a night where the spotlight met total theatrical anarchy. Magic: Our students proved that even when "tripping" down the yellow brick road, the show doesn't just go on—it shines. Talent: The grit and comedic timing displayed by our performers reminded us all why we love live theater.
Thank you to everyone who came out to support our talented students. Your $7.00 tickets and enthusiastic applause help keep the arts alive in our school!
Camels Hump Middle School’s parent group welcomes you to get involved and stay connected. Watch the CHMS Mountaineer Newsletter for upcoming events and announcements.

We are now partnering with many local producers to bring fresh Vermont food to our lunch trays including: Maple Meadow Eggs, VT Beef from Ferrisburgh, Misty Knoll Farms Chicken, Cabot Creamery Cheese and Yogurt, produce from Burnt Rock Farm, The Farm Upstream and Jericho Settlers Farm, Cold Hollow Cider, Chapin Orchard apples, and more...
CHMS recently received a generous grant from Tampa Bay Buccaneers player Evan Deckers, who has ties to Huntington, Vermont, through the NFL’s My Cause, My Cleats program. Thanks to this grant, we added a bulk milk dispenser at the start of the school year.
We’re excited to now partner with Monument Farms Dairy in Weybridge, VT, to offer 100% Vermont milk to our students. With schools now allowed to serve whole milk at lunch, we will begin a pilot of Monument Farms whole milk in our dispenser starting February 10. Hood 1% and skim milk will continue to be available in cartons at both lunch and breakfast.
We continue to respond to the feedback from our students and families and are grateful for the support of our community.
