So Much Learning, So Much Growing!
We have been busy settling into our routines, learning procedures, and getting to know one another! Our third graders had their first Math Through Art session with Ms. Nancy, a wonderful PTO-sponsored program that will happen once a month during third grade math.
We also enjoyed a visit from CSWD’s Recycle Rhonda, who taught us about sorting trash, recycling, and compost at UCS. Students decorated their notebooks with things that are important to them and created beautiful self portraits that are now displayed in our classroom.
Students also completed the STAR Math assessment this week. We are continuing to get comfortable with our routines and build our classroom community!

Weekly Letters Home
Each week, your child will bring home their Weekly Letter in their folder. We will begin writing our letters on Thursday, with Friday available to finish them up as needed. Notebooks will come home Thursday or Friday, depending on when your child finishes their letter.
Your child will share things about their week and may sometimes ask you a question. Please do your best to read and respond to your child’s letter. This is a wonderful, authentic writing experience that gives students a chance to practice their writing while also reflecting on their week at school.
Please return your child’s notebook as soon as possible each week, and by Thursday morning at the latest so we have it ready for our next letter.

Classroom Sharing
We have already started Classroom Sharing in our classroom! Students can sign up on our classroom sharing calendar and choose when they would like to share. They will not have a specific day of the week assigned to them, giving them the independence to decide when they have something they would like to share with the class.
Photos, stories, hobbies, collections, and other interesting non-toy items are wonderful things to share. Please leave toys at home so that sharing remains an opportunity to tell us about something meaningful, interesting, or special.
If your child has something they would like to share but you aren't sure whether it fits our expectations, please feel free to email me. I'm always happy to help!
Home/School Folders
Your child will be bringing home a black or blue folder to be used to send notes back and forth between home and school. Today they will be bringing home a couple of notices, including the UCS lunch calendar. Please send this folder back to school with your child each day. There will be many days where we won't send them home, because we don't have any information to send. Please plan to check for the folder especially on Fridays.

Classroom Treats
On occasion, we might give students trident gum, tic tacs, lifesavers mints, hot cocoa, popcorn, or hershey's milk chocolate for something fun. As part of the district health protocols, we need to notify you of this. Please reach out to me if your child will need to opt out of this.
