Bernier's 3-4 Newsletter

We had a busy and exciting week together! We spent lots of time learning our classroom routines and expectations, getting to know one another, and beginning to build our classroom community. I am already so impressed with how well this group listens and works together. It makes me excited to think about all that we will be able to accomplish this year!
We also had some very exciting monarch discoveries this week! We were lucky enough to watch a monarch butterfly emerge from its chrysalis, and we have many monarch caterpillars in our classroom that we are observing as they grow and move through their life cycle. On Thursday, we partnered with our Kindergarten friends for a fun caterpillar-themed project.
We also jumped right into math this week! Our 4th graders will be heading to Ms. Jones for math, while our 3rd graders will stay with me for their math learning.
One of the highlights of the week was spending some time playing and exploring in the woods together. It was wonderful to see students getting to know each other, having fun, and growing more comfortable as a classroom community. We are bonding so well already, and I couldn't be more excited for the year ahead!
Photos For A Project
We are so excited to kick off our Weekly Letters Home writing project! Each week, learners will share their favorite moments, writing progress, and classroom adventures in a special notebook that travels between home and school.
To make these notebooks extra special, we are decorating the covers with personal photos and cutouts! Having familiar pictures right on their covers gives students fun writing prompts and daily inspiration all year long. Due Date: Please send all pictures in by Tuesday, September 8th.
What Pictures to Send In
Please help your child collect a few pictures they can cut and glue onto their notebook, such as:
Family & Friends: Favorite snapshots of loved ones
Pets & Favorite Animals: Furry friends or cool creatures
Hobbies & Interests: Sports, games, favorite foods, or art
Places & Adventures: Postcards, brochure cutouts, or travel photos
Unified Arts Schedule
Monday: Library
Tuesday: Guidance, World Language
Wednesday: Art
Thursday: P.E.
Friday: P.E., Music
**Please help your child remember their sneakers on P.E. days.
Classroom Sharing
We have already started Classroom Sharing in our classroom! Students can sign up on our classroom sharing calendar and choose when they would like to share. They will not have a specific day of the week assigned to them, giving them the independence to decide when they have something they would like to share with the class.
Photos, stories, hobbies, collections, and other interesting non-toy items are wonderful things to share. Please leave toys at home so that sharing remains an opportunity to tell us about something meaningful, interesting, or special.
If your child has something they would like to share but you aren't sure whether it fits our expectations, please feel free to email me. I'm always happy to help!
Home/School Folders
Your child will be bringing home a black or blue folder to be used to send notes back and forth between home and school. Today they will be bringing home a couple of notices, including the UCS lunch calendar. Please send this folder back to school with your child each day. There will be many days where we won't send them home, because we don't have any information to send. Please plan to check for the folder especially on Fridays.

September 7th: NO SCHOOL -> Labor Day
September 9th: PTO Welcome Back Picnic (Rescheduled)

Classroom Treats
