Interactive Spelling transforms traditional spelling practice into an exciting, hands-on learning experience. Through games, creative challenges, team activities, and writing exercises, students reinforce spelling patterns, expand vocabulary, and build confidence using the words and concepts they are already learning in school.
Rather than replacing classroom instruction, this mentor-led enrichment class provides students with an enjoyable opportunity to practice important language skills while learning from positive high school mentors who encourage confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning.

Uma Gowda
Senior, MAST Academy
Uma Gowda is a senior at MAST Academy and serves as the mentor for the Spelling class. She enjoys helping children build confidence while discovering that learning language, vocabulary, and spelling can be both fun and rewarding.
Outside the classroom, Uma enjoys reading and practicing yoga. She plans to attend the University of Florida and hopes to pursue a career in law. She describes herself as caring, expressive, and outgoing and is excited to help students become stronger readers and writers.
