Virtual Learning

"Fulltime" Remote Learning Option

The district will comply with the NJDOE guidance from July 24, 2020 to allow for remote learning options. All students are eligible for full-time remote learning. Families will be required to opt in to receive this option via a district remote learning request. The district will provide information to families with an established process to follow.

Students will be able to request this option to begin the school year and the district will make this option available for all students at the second, third, and fourth marking periods using the calendar below.

Parents will have the ability to deselect this option at the end of every marking period and participate again in instruction in buildings.

      • Initial request must be received by the district by August 17, 2020 for marking period 1

      • Marking period 2 begins November 9th

      • Marking period 3 begins January 25th

      • Marking period 4 begins April 12

Remote learning means that students will follow along in classes and with assignments from home when school is open to students and will participate in all aspects of virtual learning when that is being delivered. Families will be able to request this option for each marking period.

Please note that regardless of whether a student is learning from home, in their physical classroom, or moving between the two settings, the structure of the school day should look largely the same for students. The goal will be the implementation of structures and strategies that work as well at home as they do in school. Staff will utilize "live streaming" to our students’ best advantage in the most developmentally appropriate ways.

Transition to a Full Remote Model (for all students)

If conditions necessitate, a transition to full remote learning will take place. Virtual learning will continue to be guided by P.L. 2020, c.27 and the school district's updated Emergency Closure School Preparedness Plan, if schools are required to deliver instruction through a fully virtual environment during limited periods throughout the school year due to a local or Statewide public health emergency.

Full virtual schedules will closely adhere to our traditional full school day schedule that will include a combination of synchronous and asynchronous instruction, which will allow for contact time between educators and their students, as well as time for students to engage with their peers.
