The LARC 450 Advanced Landscape Architectural Design I + LARC 652 Land Development Principles and Practices studios at West Virginia University have spent the semester studying the Lower Hill neighborhood within the Hill District of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a predominately African American neighborhood. Working under the Green New Deal Superstudio, projects address issues of connectivity, sustainability, circulation, and cultural revival in an area negatively impacted through previous urban development decisions.
