Amaya Jernigan

Amaya Jernigan is a junior Biology student who currently serves as a Senator-At-Large within SGA. Amaya has served as President of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, Eta Omicron Chapter. She is also involved with undergraduate research, RISE WVU, NAACP, MAPHS, and M-Power. Being from out of state Amaya strives to bring more inclusive and creative initiatives to West Virginia University.


Since Amaya joined SGA she has worked on creating more diverse counseling options, mentoring programs for underrepresented students, pass/fail opportunities, gender neutral bathrooms, and making WVU a home for everyone. Amaya plans to take ACT!ON by going first and being the first Black Women to hold the student body President title at WVU.

Hunter Moore

He/Him/His


Hunter Moore is a junior Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering student currently serving as a College Senator for the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. He is active in his college as the Secretary of the Experimental Rocketry Team and a student member of the Microgravity Research Team, and is also involved with the NAACP, AIAA, and the Honors College. A native West Virginian, Hunter is pursuing an EXCEL Project mapping STEM Assets to help young students throughout the state.


Hunter’s experience with SGA includes working on the Communications Team, the Bureau of Finance, and the Governing Documents Review Committee, before being elected to the Student Assembly. Since then, he has written legislation encouraging WVU to begin using solar energy, advocating for a pass/fail option, fighting for the rights of Title IX complainants, and supporting underrepresented students on campus. Hunter plans to take ACT!ON by doing everything he can to amplify the voices of his classmates.
