What PBIS does:
-Targets the entire student body
-Is a proactive, preventative approach
-Teaches effective classroom practices
-Develops 3-5 positively stated school-wide expectations
-Teaches the behaviors necessary to follow the rules
-Helps to develop a school-wide reinforcement plan
-Establishes well-designed rules, routines, and physical arrangement,
-Provides clear expectations in all locations including non-instructional (playground, bus, halls, cafeteria)
What is Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS)?
PBIS is a team-based process to help teams achieve social and learning outcomes. It is a proactive approach to teach, monitor, and support appropriate school behavior across settings for all students. PBIS focused on rewarding positive behaviors rather than punishing inappropriate ones.
