Gina Rajchel presented information, resources, and activities to help support us all in living with gratitude. Gina is the Interim Director of Children's Creative Learning Center. She has a passion for gratitude and the positive impact it can have on our lives. Wendy Kinnear spoke on children experiencing homelessness in our area. She discussed what defines homelessness and provided resources for children and families who may be experiencing homelessness. The slides and contact information for Wendy can be found here: November 2021 Family Resources
Using a system positive reinforcement at home is a great way to promote appropriate behavior and reduce problem behavior in children. We walk families through how to implement a positive reward system and provide an example of our "Bee System" that can be used at home. Further information: October 2021 Family Resources

This month we provided strategies for teaching and supporting social emotional development at home with a staff highlight from our MIU IV Social Worker, Bryda Drumm. All resources and slides can be found here: April Family Resources
One of our Physical Therapists, Cathy Petty, joined us to talk about taking a solution focused approach physical therapy and the importance of embedding strategies within the typical routines of a child's day. The strategy of a calming corner was also shared to help children safely manage those big emotions. All resources and slides can be found here: March Family Resources
This month we presented the behavior strategy of forced choice and discussed the importance of routines at home. Strategies to reduce screen time and to prepare your children for back to school after break were also provided. Our Speech Therapist, Meghan Decker included great information, resources, and videos related to expressive and receptive language milestones for children ages 3-6. Information on the kindergarten transition process and the differences between school age and early intervention services were shared this month. Our staff highlights of the month, Specialized Classroom Teacher, Megan DeFazio and Speech Therapist, Haley Fuller shared tips and ideas for how to establish a positive learning environment at home. This included setting up the learning environment, providing wait time, cueing your child, and providing reinforcement during virtual instruction. Our October Family Resource Training included an introduction to PBIS and support using visual aids and with transitions at home. We also had one of our Occupational Therapists provide helpful tips for parents to support fine motor skills with their preschoolers.
