Academic proficiency meets extra-curricular progress as the department’s progressive vision to catapult its students to newer horizons without limiting it to a rigid syllabus. With this focus, the students participated in numerous activities and events that are intended to improve their skills.
A 4-day faculty development programme on “ABB IRB1520ID Industrial Robot and ABB RobotStudio Simulation Software” through Hydac India Pvt Ltd was held at the Department of Mechatronics Engg, MITE, Moodabidri from 7th December to 10th December 2020. The FDP aims to provide opportunities to faculty members and staff to enrich their teaching skill and research in the field of Industrial Robots. The Programme also intends to develop the knowledge of participants for simulation with advanced software in the relevant field for inculcating learning values in students and guiding and monitoring their progress. A day dedicated to the newbies of the Mechatronics family saw Mr. Chetan Rajdev, Sales-Head Hydac, Southern Region delivered a technical talk on “New trends in Process Automation: Industry 4.0”. He spoke in length about the various career opportunities for a Mechatronics Engineering addressing the opportunities available for graduates in an era of the fourth Industrial Revolution.
Mr. Sunilkumar B U, Founder and CEO of Defair Integrations, delivered a talk on “Entrepreneurship development in Engineering students”. He spoke about the various challenges faced by the entrepreneurship and also the opportunities that can be utilized by the students in order to be the job providers of tomorrow.
Mr.Subhas M S, an alumni of the department and proprietor of Technoclog Pvt Ltd enticed the students by motivating them towards “Startups” and connect the youngsters to industries to make a better engineering India. With insights on his area of work like Industrial Automation, Embedded system, Building Management System (BMS), Design tools the students understood on the ongoing industrial demands and standards set.
A one-day industrial visit to SKF was organized on 10th October 2019. The students got to visit the water purification plant. The supervisor took the students on a walk through explaining about various purification process used for domestic and industrial applications.
Mr. Vinod Kumar K, Centre Head, CADD Centre, Moodabidre delivered the tall that focused on applications of design and simulation tools such as Ansys, Catia, SolidWorks, SolidEdge, NXCAD, AutoCaD NXCAM. The students were informed about the future trends in the field of FEA in automotive and manufacturing sector.
