The Associated Student Body (ASB) of MIT Academy is our student government, made up of 17 students from all grades (9-12) elected to represent our Griffins.
ASB is an opportunity to gain experience in leadership, social communication, and operating a small, for-profit organization.
Members and subsidiaries of ASB maintain the integrity of the student body and believe in the community they're building for Griffins.
ASB is in charge of raising money on behalf of the student body to fund student activities, such as Sadie Hawkins/Homecoming, Prom, and Senior Week, as well as organizing and facilitating student body events, such as Rally Week and the multiple Spirit Weeks we have throughout the year.
All clubs, events, and fundraisers are subject to approval by the ASB Executive Board.
We operate in cohesion with the school's administration, although California law recognizes ASB as an independent financial entity.
All ASB activities must abide by the FCMAT Associated Student Body Manual.
At this time, all ASB positions have been filled.
ASB officers are elected by their peers before the start of their tenure, traditionally in May-June of the previous school year unless special circumstances require an emergency election.
During the spring election season, a small window of time opens where students may apply for a position within ASB. Candidates then host a campaign advertising their run to win the favor of their fellow students. After about a week of campaigns, students cast their vote for all ASB positions during Advisory.
In the case of a vacancy on the board, thia electoral process is enacted at the discretion of the ASB Advisor.
