Year 2
Year 2
Creative Media - Digital Music
Learners will explore how music can make them think and feel. They will make patterns and use those patterns to make music with both percussion instruments and digital tools. They will also create different rhythms and tunes, using the movement of animals for inspiration. Finally, learners will share their creations and compare creating music digitally and non-digitally.
I can identify simple differences in pieces of music
I can describe music using adjectives
I can say what I do and don’t like about a piece of music
Children listened to and compared two pieces of music from The Planets by Gustav Holst. They then used a musical description word bank to describe how this music generated emotions, i.e. how it makes them feel.
Children went to the National Army Museum today. They took pictures using their ipads and demonstrated the skills they learnt from unit 2.
I can create a rhythm pattern
I can play an instrument following a rhythm pattern
I can explain that music is created and played by humans
Children created patterns and used those patterns as rhythms. They used untuned percussion instruments and computers to hear the different rhythm patterns that they created.
LO: To experiment with sound using a computer
I can connect images with sounds
I can use a computer to experiment with pitch
I can relate an idea to a piece of music
In this lesson, learners developed their understanding of music. They used a computer to create and refine musical patterns.
I noticed that when I drew a circle, it was a low pitch sound.
When I did a downwards line, the sound went quieter.
I drew a square and noticed that the sound was deep.
In this lesson, learners will develop their understanding of music. They will use a computer to create and refine musical patterns.
To use a computer to create a musical pattern
I can identify that music is a sequence of notes
I can explain how my music can be played in different ways
I can refine my musical pattern on a computer
