Year 3
Year 3
In this lesson, the children discussed whether they think a picture can move. They have learned about simple animation techniques and created their own animations in the style of flip books (flick books) using sticky notes.
Lesson 2 - Can I produce an animation, frame by frame?
We used iPads, whiteboards and pens. The app we used was called Stop Motion.
First, we drew a simple picture on a whiteboard.
Secondly, we erased some of our picture and then we 'edited' our picture to make a change.
Next, we erased the updated part and changed the image again. This was to create an animation.
In this lesson, we learned the term 'onion skinning' this means when you take a picture of your original drawing and then rub a part out, the app remembers the original picture.
We had a great time - Swan Class!
What is onion skinning?
Have a look at an example of our animation.
Lesson 3 - My storyboard
At the beginning of the lesson the children discussed their animations that they created last lesson. We then spoke about the tables we would be using in this lesson to create our very own storyboards, ahead of our own stop frame animations. In these storyboards we included; characters, settings, and events that we would like to include in their own stop-frame animations next lesson.
