Meet the Counselors Family Letter
As school counselors at Midkiff Elementary, we proactively share our role to ensure a collaborative environment. With students, we conduct classroom guidance lessons and hold small groups and individual sessions, explaining we're here to help them with their feelings, friendships, and school success. We use newsletters, school events, Coffee with the Counselors, and parent-teacher conferences to inform parents about the services we provide, such as responsive services and academic planning. For staff, we collaborate on student needs, provide professional development, and offer consultation to ensure a unified approach to supporting all students' academic, social-emotional, and career development.
LEADERSHIP AND ADVOCACY
As school counselors at Midkiff Elementary, we demonstrate leadership by coordinating student support programs. For example, we lead the development of our anti-bullying initiative, Friendship Force, and guide this student group's implementation. We also serve on the Site-Based Decision-Making (SBDM) Committee. As members, we use data to represent students' academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs, ensuring our school's improvement plan addresses their well-being. This work, along with our collaboration with teachers, parents, and community partners, allows us to advocate for necessary mental health resources and ensure all children receive support for their academic success.
