Desk assistants contribute administrative support, serve as the initial point of contact for students visiting The Learning Centers, and help make the our space inviting for students for studying and receiving tutoring and writing support.
Tutors assist students one-on-one and in small group settings with a variety of course content. Tutors also help and encourage students to develop effective study skills.
science-focused tutors assist with courses in STEM subjects (biology, biotechnology, chemistry, computer science, physics, and physical sciences, as well as astronomy, horticulture, geology, earth science, and oceanography)
math-focused tutors assist with all math, statistics, and Philosophy 110 (logic) courses
other disciplines (ASIC) tutors assist with courses in a variety of subjects, such as accounting, Computer Systems and Information Technology (CSIT), economics, Media Arts & Technologies (MAT), music, psychology, sociology, and more!
SI Leaders are trained to facilitate regularly scheduled, out-of-class group study sessions driven by students' needs. SI sessions help students of a particular course (i.e. CHEM 210) improve their understanding of course material, develop study strategies, and prepare for exams through peer-to-peer interaction in small groups.
Learning Coaches provide routine-to-advanced equity-minded coaching and academic tutoring or writing consulting services, and assist students in achieving learning outcomes. They also provide lead-level work direction and support to tutors, writing consultants, SI leaders, and desk staff.
The Administrative Assistant provides administrative and logistical support for The Learning Centers including the processing of payroll, coordination of personnel processes, and maintenance of program systems. They also provide lead-level work direction to tutors, writing consultants, and desk staff and help to ensure effective customer service.
The Faculty Coordinators are responsible for connecting program options related to their fields. Additionally, the coordinators work with departmental faculty and TLC staff to provide additional opportunities for student-level workers and students alike. Often, they will lead workshops or presentations related to their subject matter expertise to demonstrate future options for students in the various industries.
The Operations Supervisors are responsible for the planning and operations of their designated Center within The Learning Centers. They oversee all staff in their Center and support staff in daily operations. Additionally, they connect with other campus services to meet student needs through multiple modes of support.
The Operations Manager coordinates operations across all Learning Centers: Academic Support & Innovations Center (ASIC), STEM Learning Centers (STEMLC), and Writing Center (WC).
