An important part of your college experience is meeting with your professors one-on-one in what many call "Office Hours." I've renamed these hangouts as "Student Hours" because I want you to know THIS IS YOUR TIME! Every Monday, I will be in my office IN OC 3514 from 1PM - 3PM. This is when you can ask questions or express concerns about a class material or assignments; where you can ask questions about the PUENTE program; where you can ask me for support or to be referred to campus resources, or where you can share a snack and a cafecito with me!
If this day and window of time does not work for you, please make an appointment with me through Calendly (link to be added soon) or send me a text, and we will find a time to meet via Zoom.
After submitting your first two class projects, you will be REQUIRED to meet with me to talk about your writing process. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate your writing wins and to discuss your challenges.
These conferences are also when we (together!) can determine that your assignment is COMPLETE or INCOMPLETE. If we deem your assignment as INCOMPLETE, this conference will empower you to make the necessary revisions to COMPLETE the assignment.
We are VERY LUCKY to have a PUENTE connection at the MiraCosta Writing Center! Not only do we have past PUENTISTAS working there to help us, but we will have our very own embedded writing consultants!
In our 9 AM ENGL 100, we will have Kenneth, and in our 11 AM ENGL 100, we will have Dani. They were PUENTISTAS last year and are happy to support your writing efforts this semester. You will get to meet them during Week 2.
A couple of our assignments in class require you to make contact with the Writing Center, which can happen in person or virtually. More information about our writing consultants and the Writing Center will be shared with you starting on Week 2 of the semester.
