HONORS Option

To conduct research on and expand upon a Writing or Service Learning Project (Rest Is Resistance, AI development and use, The Death of My Father The Pope, or our Día de Los Muertos);
To lead the promotion and engagement of events around MiraCosta's Día De Los Muertos;
To attend and present their research at MiraCosta's OMNI Showcase;
To meet with Profe one-on-one & with the rest of the Honors Crew regularly throughout the semester to discuss class materials more deeply and to work collaboratively on the Service Learning Project & the OMNI Showcase presentation; and
To write about their Honors option experience at the end of the course.

Here are important things to keep in mind regarding your Honors Contracts:

Most Día De Los Muertos events will take place in the month of October. In order to receive a Service Learning Certificate of Participation, students will have to complete 15 hours of Service Learning.
November 1st and November 2nd are when big Día de Los Muertos events will happen at the CLC, SAN, and OC campuses.
The OMNI Conference Showcase takes place near the end of the term. Students will be expected to give a presentation and attend at least one additional session as an audience member.

Honors Program PSLOs

PSLO 1: At the conclusion of the Program, Honors students will have learned and applied discipline-specific research skills.
PSLO 2: At the conclusion of the Program, Honors students will be able to evaluate and apply their communication skills in pursuit of academic and career options.
PSLO 3: At the conclusion of the Program, Honors students, as global citizens, will understand the value of equity and diversity in solving problems.
