Hi I am Laura, also known as Peppin or Pep!
I am a specialist mental health practitioner registered with the HCPC, with years of healthcare experience working with people to improve their well-being and achieve their goals. Having completed accredited leadership training I am now also a Member of the Institute of Leadership and Management, which supports my other roles as a Board Member, Clinical Supervisor, Training Facilitator and Inclusion Lead.
Whenever I have faced struggles in my life I have always found that speaking to the right person has made all the difference. Whether that has been committing to years of personal therapy, doing training or coaching, or just a ten minute chat, it has just taken someone to listen, believe in my potential and say a few responsive words to help me make those positive changes that I needed.
For a long time I have used writing as a way of making sense of my thoughts and improve my mental health, and now I want to share this process with you through my blog in the hope that it might help you too. My perceptions are informed by my training, my own experiences, and what I learn from the diverse and inspiring people I meet, and I want to do my best to transfer all the complexities of life into something manageable and inclusive so that you can get the boost you need to find your way.
I believe that we are all capable of growth, even in the hardest of conditions, and have seen this for myself in my music therapy practice with my clients and in my personal life. I now want to reach more people through my blog and as a coach. As a queer person of colour, and having worked extensively with disabled people, I am particularly interested in working with people who experience additional barriers placed on them by society including disabled, LGBTQIA+, brown and black people, but will learn from anyone and welcome people of all backgrounds to get in touch.
