Essential Question: Is the cognitive demand placed primarily on my learner?
In Year 2 of the New Educator Workshop, educators will help learners build positive habits of mind. Learners will be encouraged to take more agency in their learning through a variety of teaching practices. Educators will conduct collaborative action research in which they will learn from each other through the use of an inquiry cycle in an area they are curious about and want to further develop their skills . The year's summative project is to:
learn and apply something new with a focus on student growth
identify which instructional practice it most aligns to and be able to justify why it is that practice. For example: responsive instructional practice, visible learning, design thinking or learner identity.
be able to justify why it is that practice
be able to say “why ‘it’ works to enhance your practice and support learners
Create a one pager that shows your learning
Prepare to share your experience and learning at a guided round table discussion
Year 2 of the New Educator Workshop includes a 15 hour salary credit in the form of:
10 hours: In Person Class time
5 hours: Project Development & Research
These supports will come from Instructional Leaders in the Mineola School District.
