The Higher Sports Leadership course aims to develop pupils confidence, self-belief, teamwork skills and time management. This is a progression from Level 4 and Level 5 Sports Leadership that can be completed through Active Schools.
Throughout the year pupils will need to lead sessions to their peers, younger years and primary school pupils. Pupils will deliver a 3 week block in a local primary school, during which they will be expected to plan and lead the session independently.
Please note: This is a level 6 course and consequently is of a similar demand to that of a Higher qualification. Please speak to a member of the PE department if you are considering selecting this course.
Below is a detailed outline as to how the Higher Leadership course will be structured. The structure of the course may differ slightly depending on the facilities available and/or the progression of the class.
Pupils are required to pass observations within the PE department. They are observed on a number of occasions leading a session and they are provided with feedback throughout the year. Pupils are also required to fill in a 'Learner Evidence Record' to complete the course. This is completed on an ongoing basis throughout the year.
