***Important End of the Year Scheduling Notes***
End of the Year Summative Assessments in SS 6/7/8 on 6/15/26 & Science 6 & 7 and World Language 8 on 6/16/26
It is important that we have cumulative information on everything we have learned in our year long courses in World Language, Math, English, Social Studies and Science. In ELA, Math, & Science 8 we utilize NYS Testing, and our grade level assignments, to gauge our students' progress. At the end of the year, we assess our students placement in World Language, Social Studies and Science 6/7 as their summative measure during the school day. These assessments are aligned with NY state standards and give us a world of information and data about our students’ learning. Any student who does not take World Language will be in a separate location; please bring something to read during this time.
Academic Awards Ceremony Thursday, June 18, 2026 8 am @ MHS
We are excited to honor our 2026 Academic Award recipients on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at 8am. All students who will be receiving an award have been sent a letter in the mail letting them know. All families will park in the MMS playground area. If you enter through Alden place you will be directed to the parking area by staff and then the ceremony will be in the MHS Auditorium.
Moving up Ceremony Tuesday June 23, 2026 6:30 pm @ MHS

MMS Field Day 6/24(Rain date 6/25)
Our teachers teams are working to create a fun way to celebrate our teams to close out the year! All students will be having fun in the sun (hopefully) to culminate the school year. Teachers of these teams will share more specifics as the time gets closer with their students. We will run this rain or shine (unless conditions are unsafe). Please dress accordingly.
***6/23/26 - 6/25/26 Student Half Day 11:04 Dismissal***
During student half days students will attend ALL of their classes for roughly twenty minutes so that they can see all of their teachers and classes one time in the last week
Please begin to clean out your locker!
We have the noticed the trend at MMS recently of students leaving their backpacks and personal items in undesignated areas in the building. Every student at MMS has been issued a locker with a lock to keep their items safe throughout the school day. We made an announcement and reminded students of the expectation of keeping their items safe throughout the school day. All empty lockers are safely closed using zip ties that should not be removed by students. Please remind your students to utilize their locker (and never share their combination) and always keep their items safely locked away inside.
Our lost and found bins are overflowing. We will be making announcements all week prior to the end of the school year for students who have lost their belongings to come to the cafeteria and take a look. Please encourage your students to take a look if they have lost something. We will be boxing up the clothes after school gets out for the summer to take to donation.
7th & 8th Graders final cleanout- June 22nd
6th Graders final cleanout- June 23rd

The Brain & Body Coalition, a local mental health agency, came to MMS on May 12th. They spoke with students about positive ways to manage emotions and then creating coping skills toolkits together. A big thank you to The Brain and Body Coalition and their presenter Ms. Lee-Pitcher for her partnership and the incredible tool kits!
Sue Serino Kindness Award comes to Millbrook
This month, we welcomed County Executive Sue Serino for a special celebration, where she recognized several of our students as “Serino Superstars” for their efforts in demonstrating inclusion to their fellow students, and spoke about the importance of kindness. Serino Superstars is an anti-bullying initiative that highlights local middle school students who exemplify kindness, leadership, and the courage to do what’s right, even when it isn’t easy. Whether speaking up against bullying, supporting their peers, or helping to create a classroom environment where every student feels welcomed and respected, these students lead by example.
Students were selected as Serino Superstars by our faculty, who see firsthand the positive impact they make each day. We are incredibly proud of our students and grateful to County Executive Serino for the opportunity to recognize their contributions to our school community.

Our trip to the Historic Hudson was the best!
7th grade visited the Hudson River Maritime Museum. Students participated in a guided, inquiry based museum experience with a Museum educator. They explored the American Revolution exhibit, “Tides of War.” They took a ride on a solar powered vessel Solaris and explored the Rondout Creek. They also did a walking tour along the Rondout Creek.

6th Grade Team Meets Our Next Blazers While Our 8th Graders Tour Millbrook High School
Believe it or not our newest Blazers are right around the corner. The 6th grade team went down to Alden Place to meet and work with the current 5th grade students to begin to get to know them as academics. All members of the team introduced themselves and led the 5th graders in activities in Math, ELA and a lesson using the Question Formulation Technique. We can't wait to have them up to visit us in June! Our 8th graders went up to the High School to tour the building. Thanks to the high school students that led the tour and the high school team that welcomed our students with open arms.
6th Grade Team Visits the Loeb Museum @ Vassar College
6th Grade explored ancient civilizations through art at the Loeb museum at Vassar College. At the museum they viewed the antiquities gallery, Bunmei Kaika, a printmaking art activity, and the adventures of Ulysses. The students discussed the themes and had a picnic together.
All library books are now due back in the library.
Overdue notices have been distributed to students in their Homebase.
Please be sure your students have returned their books and materials
to the school library.
Wellness Corner
Let’s get outside and play! June is Great Outdoors Month, a time to enjoy nature, get moving, and have fun in the sunshine. Spending time outside helps our bodies and brains stay healthy and happy.
Here are a few fun ideas to try with your family:
Go on a 🌿 Nature Walk and look for birds, bugs, or cool rocks
Have a 🧺 Picnic in your backyard or at the park
Draw with 🎨 Chalk on the sidewalk
Play a game🏃♂️ like Tag, Hopscotch, or Hide-and-Seek
Look at the Clouds ☁️ and make up stories about the shapes you see
Whatever you do, take time to enjoy the fresh air and have some screen-free fun!
