November 2026
We are thankful! As we prepare to take a short break from school for Thanksgiving, we want to express our gratitude for everyone who assists our students with coming to school every day, on time, and ready to learn. We thank:
• Our students for making daily attendance a priority since they know the habit of attendance will help them do well in the classroom and eventually in a job.
• Our families for supporting students by partnering with the school.
• Our wonderful teachers who pour their energy into making each classroom an exciting place for exploration and knowledge so children do not want to miss out on learning.
• Our support staff who provide the extra hands and attention our children need to develop their social-emotional skills and adaptive behavior.
We appreciate each one of you so much. We look forward to seeing you after the Thanksgiving holiday. As a reminder, school is closed on 11/26/25 and reopens on 12/1/25.
We especially appreciate everyone’s efforts to avoid taking extra days off during the Thanksgiving holiday. Just a few missed days here and there, even if they’re excused absences, can add up to too much lost learning time and leave your child behind in school. This is as true in kindergarten as it is in high school. Go Blazers!
We have a lot of important information to share with you below!

As a reminder, parent teachers are NOT mandatory, but do serve as a great way to get to speak to your child’s team of teachers about their current academic standing. Many of our students have re-adjusted to school quickly and are doing well. Teams will be reaching out to families that they are highly encouraging to attend parent teacher conferences. Conferences will be in-person. To sign up for Parent-Teacher conferences you will utilize the the link below; Google Calendar. Look Out for the MMS Giving Tree!!
Who: The Giving Tree supports families in the Millbrook Central School District during the holiday season.
What: Each tree will display paper hands with anonymous gift requests from families in need. Community members are invited to select a hand, purchase the item, and return it as a gift.
Where: Giving Trees will be set up in each school building lobby.
When: During Parent-Teacher Conferences on November 19 and 20. Gifts should be returned to the District Office by December 12.
Why: To lend a giving hand and brighten the holidays for members of our school community.
The Millbrook Giving Tree is a meaningful tradition that our district takes part in each holiday season. This initiative brings our school community together to support local families in need by providing gifts that help make the holidays a little brighter. Each year, families and staff have the opportunity to select an item from the Giving Tree and lend a helping hand to others in our community.

Local Librarians Come to MMS
Students in ELA 7 classes were visited by the Millbrook public library's Director and Youth Services Librarian on October 15th in collaboration with Mrs. Guley and Mrs. Morton in the library. Students were introduced to the many programs and resources available to them through the public library. They were shown how to access the online resources and apps using their library cards with a special focus on how to access eBooks using the Libby app to support their work in ELA. Students had the opportunity to ask questions and share ideas.

Mr. Grimes did an INCREDIBLE job of being direct and honest with our students of the many dangers that can be avoided with solid strategies and skills when applied correctly. Our students thoughtfully listened and reflected on this very important topic. We thank him for his candor and wisdom that directly gave our students actionable steps that they can take today to make them safer!
This session helped students to:
Understand the latest online trends and platforms
Learn how to talk with their families about safe and responsible digital behavior
Identify potential warning signs and risk factors
Know who they can speak with at school and beyond if they need assistance

Celebrating National School Lunch Week!
Last week, we celebrated National School Lunch Week with a flavorful journey around the world! Each day featured themed lunches inspired by Italy, Mexico, China, and the USA. Students enjoyed delicious meals, music from each country, and a special surprise—our Food Service Director dressed as a Venetian gondolier! It was a fun and educational way to highlight the importance of nutritious school meals.
