❏ Start thinking about types of careers. Try to pick 3 or 4 career fields that fit with your interests. (You can use ohiomeansjobs.com as a research tool. Use the K-12 section for taking career interest inventories, comparing options, and more.) *These do not need to be specific jobs, rather you could pick three or four clusters. I.E. Engineering careers, Medical careers, and Technology Careers
❏ Start a family folder or download an App that keeps track of all of you usernames & passwords
❏ Explore SchooLinks—a college & career readiness program provided by Milford Schools (done at school)
❏ Start a career planning vision board: Track careers that interest you, start researching what types of classes might fit with those careers, consider what types of education and training you might need to pursue. This could be a physical board or you could use SchooLinks.
❏ Attend the 8th Grade Scheduling Meeting
❏ Start thinking about what pathway you might want to try out in high school. What pathways would fit with your career board? Can you get started on the pathway in 8th grade?
❏ Complete summer reading

❏ Sign up for challenging courses, but also be sure to find balance in your schedule for family and activities
❏ Summer Reading & Summer Homework -- Please make sure to complete summer reading and AP summer homework, if applicable. The Summer Reading Website will list all requirements for summer work. AP teachers will contact students with any summer work.
❏ SchooLinks-- Use SchooLinks (in Clever) to look up potential colleges and careers. Log-in with Google Single Sign-On. Parents who would like their own account should contact Darragh Naylor at naylor_d@milfordschools.org.
❏ Get Involved -- Beyond using the career and college search and preparation tools in SchooLinks, students could also consider completing some exploratory experiences over the summer. Students could also visit 1-2 colleges to start getting an idea of what types of schools interest them.
❏ Mark Your Calendar -- College 101 is the largest college event of the year at Milford HS. At this event, you will be able to attend a financial aid information presentation and hear about the steps that freshmen and sophomores need to take to prepare for college. This event takes place every year in late August or early September. Keep an eye on your school email for more information.
