❏ Consider taking the PSAT at school in the fall.
❏ Consider options for enrollment at Great Oaks and attend the information session at Milford HS. Attending Great Oaks does not mean you can’t go to college! You can do both and many programs at Great Oaks are excellent preparation for college work. Great Oaks visits are in January.
❏ Sign up for classes that challenge you, interest you, and fit your future goals. Consider AP classes if appropriate. Look into the ACT Prep classes.
❏ Make an appointment with your counselor if you want to discuss course options.
❏ Consult Milford HS Graduation Requirements, Honors Diploma Requirements, and NCAA Student-Athlete Requirements if needed.
❏ Consider your next school year! How will Junior year be your year to shine? Will you be a leader in a club? Will you volunteer your time helping others? How will you build study skills to make this year extraordinary?
❏ Check ACT/SAT testing dates and locations for the upcoming school year on www.act.org (ACT) or www.collegeboard.org (SAT) Decide which dates work best for you. Think about ACT/SAT preparation programs or courses.
❏ Summer Reading & Summer Homework -- Please make sure to complete summer reading and AP summer homework, if applicable. The Summer Reading Website. AP teachers will contact students with any summer work.
❏ Use SchooLinks to look up potential colleges and careers. Log-in with Google Single Sign-On. Parents who would like their own account should contact Darragh Naylor (naylor_d@milfordschools.org).
❏ College Preparation -- Beyond using the college search and preparation tools in SchooLinks, students should also consider completing 1-2 college visits during the summer. Students will have 2 college visit days during their junior year. Forms for college visit days can be picked up in the Main Office.
❏ Get Involved -- Beyond using the career and college search and preparation tools in SchooLinks, students could also consider completing some exploratory experiences over the summer. Students could also visit 1-2 colleges to start getting an idea of what types of schools interest them.
❏ Mark Your Calendar -- College 101 is the largest college event of the year at Milford HS. It takes place in late August or early September. At this event, you will be able to attend a financial aid information presentation and hear about the steps that juniors need to take to prepare for college. This is a great way to start or continue the college exploration process!
