My experiences with birth have allowed me to support a wide range of birthing persons and their unique needs and situations. I am passionate about client and public education and have a strong background in clinical settings. I am always looking for ways to build upon my skills and expertise through continuing education, clinical experiences, and academic achievements.

Provide education and information to birthing persons and their partners regarding options of care so that they may make informed choices during their labor and birth experience. Part of this education also includes explaining physiologic birth in easy terms and discovering the unique learning styles and needs of individual clients.
Provide continuous in-person physical and emotional support during the birthing person’s labor and birth to include one to two hours of immediate postpartum support as needed or wanted by the individual client.
Proficient with administrative duties and skills required to run a thriving small business. These include designing a functional website from the ground up as well as periodically updating and maintaining the site as needed, bookkeeping, and providing excellent client service by utilizing clear and respectful written and oral communication skills.
Responsible for staying up to date on evidence-based recommendations and completing regular continuing education credits so as to provide clients with the current recommendations and information available.
Wide range of experience with the different modalities of care and birth experiences including VBAC, cesarean birth, IVF/Infertility, high-risk/high-intervention, LGBTQ+, home birth, advanced maternal age, multiples, and low-risk/low-intervention hospital births.

Brief Overview of Skills:

Assess and record client vitals during prenatal care, labor & birth, in the immediate postpartum period, and postpartum care
Take a complete client history
Phlebotomy skills (blood draws, IV skills, recommended/routine labs during the course of care)
Assess and record fundal height measurement during prenatal care
Use Leopold's Maneuver to determine fetal lie, presentation, attitude, and position
Assess and record fetal heart tones during prenatal care using a fetoscope or a handheld doppler
Assess and record fetal heart tones during labor
Provide labor support (hands-on, positional changes/recommendations, emotional support/encouragement, provide care options and client education/information as needed based on labor progression)
Support in the first few minutes postpartum (promoting/supporting immediate skin-to-skin and parent-infant bonding; assessing newborn vitals on parent; APGAR scoring; adjusting environment to support the well-being of the newborn by turning off fans/air conditioning, ensuring warm/dry blankets are placed over newborn PRN, being minimally disruptive to ensure optimal conditions for the physiologic bonding process)
Management of the third stage
Perform immediate postpartum exam (vitals, perineal exam, fundal height/firmness, assess bleeding)
Perform newborn exam (vitals, weight, measurements, head-to-toe physical exam, Ballard Score, assess newborn reflexes)
