BOTNY 1010 - Herbology for Midwives

Course Description
This course covers the identification and properties of herbs. Students learn to forage herbs and make their own herbal combinations. Students also start their own midwife's herb garden.

Skills Mastered: Utilizing field guides to positively identify wild and cultivated medicinal plants for harvesting and use; understanding the power and limitations of herbal remedies; how to identify the properties of various herbs and the appropriate use, contraindications, and dosing; creating tinctures, balms, infusions, decoctions, and syrups.
