We can offer a flexible session with your specific needs in mind. Speak to your link EP or contact Kirsty Quinn (Principal EP) to arrange professional learning that guides schools through the tools and frameworks within the Mentoring Toolkit.
As a guide, a 1 hour professional learning session takes a closer look at:
· Understanding patterns and functions of school avoidance
· Understanding systems and inter-related factors (ecological framework)
· Using a solution – orientated approach
The Mentoring Toolkit – aims and 4 phases
Phase 1: Connect
· Building Trust with anxious students
· Person Centred Planning Tools
Phase 2: Explore
· Mapping tools
· Developing ideas (formulation)
Phase 3: Plan
· Steps to success (SMART targets, ladders of strength and courage)
· Team work – sharing information and supporting the plan
Phase 4: Grow
· Thinking how to maintain positive gains
This session also invites participants to reflect on:
• How this toolkit can support working with children and YP in your setting
• How you provide targeted support and a planned approach with YP to help overcome identified barriers and build strengths and resilience
• How are you working together as a team of school, YP, families, and partner agencies to co-ordinate support?
