Who should take the placement exam:
All students who have studied Arabic and wish to place into Arabic 102 or higher are required to take a placement exam. 

Exam components:
(i) A 30-minute interview via Zoom: A 15-minute conversation in English about the student’s prior study of Arabic, and a 15-minute conversation in Arabic about general topics suited to a student’s level of proficiency in the language.

(ii) A 30-minute writing task dependent on a student’s level of proficiency in the language. The writing task will be provided by Prof. Usama Soltan after the interview. 

Exam inquiries window:
Students arriving at the start of the Fall semester should contact Professor Soltan to schedule a placement exam.  The Arabic placement exam will be administered on June 6 and June 7th.  

Exam results:
Results will be communicated via email.
