Dear Singers,
Greetings!
Thank you for a highly successful rehearsal on Tuesday. By end of rehearsal next week, our goal should be to have rehearsed all of the music in the two larger works, Malyi and Fauré.
Find other updates on our website, including a recording of the 9-27 rehearsal:
go.middlebury.edu/communitychorus/ - see the link, "Chorus Member Resource Site," (or use this direct link)
You will find part learning files, schedule updates, and rehearsal notes on various tabs
NOTES
Throughout the week, remember
posture!
breathing for singing!
vocalizing (including speech) with supportive posture and breathing, seated and standing.
Review the texts of our music. Read them to yourself, preferably out loud, legato, to prepare a singing approach to the words. It is easy for our singing to sound more like speaking, in short phrases with constant stopping of the air flow. Singing, especially choral singing, requires a different approach and your practice is the first (and best) way to approach that.

What makes our chorus compelling?
How might our chorus might be compelling for others?
Who knows about the Chorus, who doesn't?
Do your friends know about our concert, and what we are singing?
Sincerely,
Jeff
